Default iacv delete

i'm having starting issues and a high idle (2000 rpm cold dropping to 1500 warm). if i disconnect the plug on the iacv i get an idle of 800-900 rpm. so would running the engine like this cause any problems. do you think the iacv is shot?
i had better add that i have a supercharged zetec engine with jrsc bbk with a 65mm tb.
i can make a new gasket between the two but not cut the holes for the iacv port so blanking it off but keeping the electrics connected, would this be ok?
to renew the iacv means stripping the sc to gain access which i dont fancy with the weather the way it is.
your thoughts please.
