Well after returning from 6 months of Holiday repping courtesy of Thomsons it's back to the Cos-tina.
Been dragging my heels slightly with this one i'm afraid and not made much progress but rest assured it's still happening as I intended. I've stripped down my Donor YB at work and have found the reason it lost oil pressure. It picked up on number 3 big end bearing and spun it, rendering the Rod and end cap as scrap. I'm in the process of checking to see whether the crank has survived as have heard that they can warp VERY easily on the YB.
Anyway, picked the old girl herself up today and transported her to her new home during the restoration. My boss has kindly allowed me to store the Tina at work so that I can work on it in the workshop at weekends when bored. So here's a quick snap of her loaded up onto the truck and off to her new home for a while.
So she's now tucked up in her new home for a while. Will be having a look at making a start on the body this coming weekend.
As mentioned, i've been concentrating on the donor engine for the crusader. This being a spare YB I had from my Sierra. I've managed to strip it down completely now so thought i'd post some pics for you to have a good look at.
The crankshaft, if you look at No.3 big end journal you can see why I lost oil pressure on the M56
A close up of journal 3
No.3 compared to No.2 so you can see a little better the damage.
Started stripping her down to get a better idea of what is needed. Started stripping the front end down, gonna keep it a rolling shell for as long as possible to make it easier to move around.
Up on the ramp to drain out the coolant and remove all the cooling system.
Engine bay looking slightly kess cluttered for the moment.
Front end stripped down, doesn't seem to bad under here for rot.
Both wings off, doesn't seem too bad at all under here.
Close up of O/S and A pillar.
Close up of N/S and A pillar. Also with a small repaired area. All of it needs redoing though as it's poorly repaired.
And finally my Absolutely Mint Wings, not a patch of Rot or Rust on these. Well pleased.
Cheers for looking
