When i rebuilt my engine i was goin to put the old cam and lifters in while i was running it in. In the end i decided not to, fitted the new cam and set the cam timeing up properly (DTI on the on the oiston to find true tdc then on an old lifter when i was setting the timeing). When i was rebuild the engine i made sure i put plenty of engine assembly lube on the crank bearings and cylinder bores and cam/lifters etc.

I started the engine and made sure i had oil pressure, then i sat at 1500rpm for 1min. Stoped the engine and checked for leaks. Next i did 5mins at 2500rpm, then checked for leaks again. Then i did 10min at 2500rpm and so on.

After thhe cam was bedded in i did 1000miles runninf the engine in at no more than 3000rpm and only coming on boost slightly towards the 1000mile mark. After 1000miles i changed the oil then gradually increased the boost.
