Im going to go with an open mind and view the car totally on the basis of its condition and value in sum of parts. I will make a low but reasonable offer and see what happens.
He has said the off side front wing is a pattern part, so im assuming this is where the damage was, so will have a good look at the innerwings and sus it out.
The car is Cat C in 1999, damaged but repariable, insured chose to write it off and pay a settelemnt claim.
Like i said at the start and others have also stated, over half of rs cars have some sort of bad past, and thats just the ones which have been recorded.
I think i just need to get over my high standards and get my head round the fact that as long as the car is straight and had been repaired safley and profesionaly then its only the stigma of the bad hpi that is the problem with the car.
We will see!
If you are looking at it in terms of investment, the i would not drop your standards, and not rush in, i have done it before because there was not much about, and as soon as you part with the cash, you will see a really clean example and kick yourself... its sods law mate.
If i was looking for a cheap hack, then being on the HPI register wont put me off, I had a Q plate EsCos, but if i was wanting a nice minty mint car, or something to restore etc i would wait for the clean non hpi registered car.
