If your van is the same as mine, it won't have much in the way of engine electronics, and won't even have an ECU. If you can find an old enough TD block from a van, it won't have an ECU or loads of engine sensors and should theoretically be easier to fit. Using a Mondeo engine however makes it much more difficult
