wot do you mean it was brown mate just that i was speaking to someone with a st170 and they had a brown sludge in there tank along the lines and was doing the same not revving properly and then eventually died to pump failure, and brown sludge is quite random in a tank so after reading your post bad fuel does seem to be a good diagnosis
i used to have an ST170 and my pump was faulty, when going round a roundabout or corner with less than 1/4 the car cut out. I only every used BP ulitmate. Ford replaced the fuel sender unit first, then the pump after the problem was still there and that fixed the problem. Tank in it must have been clean or they would have said something
