anyone explain this intermittent clutch problem, 2001 Fiesta.


just picked up a zetec 1.25 z fiesta, drove it 250 miles home no problem, drives spot on, clutch/gears fine.

Got in it again today, 2 days later, and the clutch does not engage enough to select gears. I can only select first or reverse if I start it up in gear, with the clutch depressed, and the drive off.

Its a cable clutch but its behaving like a hydraulic clutch thats lost its pressure.

The wierd thing is got back in it later today and it was fine, no clutch toubles.

What is this intermittent problem? thanks
