The ABS and TC circuitry are connected on a puma. Do you have the ABS-TC orange light on the dash?

At 12mph, the ABS pump does a self test - it sounds like it's grinding for half a second. Is this happening? If not, then the pump could be on the way out.

If it is testing and your light is still on, then it could well be the sensors. The rear sensors especially can get dirty with crap from the rear shoes. Take the hubs off and make sure the sensor heads are shiny clean. (The silver disc to the left of the shaft)

Make sure the abs ring on the back of the hub is ok as well:

On the front - just make sure the sensors are clean on the front and nothing is obstructing the ABS ring:

The fuse is ok in the central fuse box? (The one under the cubby hole to the right of the steering wheel) : Fuse 13, 15A - blue for the ABS.

Also check the related fuses in the fuse box under the bonnet:
fuse 30 - 3 amp ABS
fuse 31 - 30 amp ABS
fuse 33 - 30 amp ABS

To test the sensors:

1. Remove Wheel
2. Remove Inner Arch Lining
3. Unplug ABS Sensor
4. Set Multimeter to Ohms
5. Set Range so meter reads between 1000 and 1200 Ohms
6. Test the sensor plug LEADING to the wheel hub by going across the 2 pins
7. A good sensor should read between the values with an average of 1.1K Ohm
8. Anything else can point to coils breaking down
9. Remember to wiggle the sensor lead when testing to check the internal coils
10. Repeat if necessary on other side.

Check the condition of the leads too as they can wear on the tyres especially if on 17" wheels.

Good luck - let me know if you need more help.
