Its very unlikely to be a CVH as 1.3's are very rare indeed.
Dont waste your time trying to uprate the head gasket, it will make no difference whatsoever. RS gaskets wouldn't fit anyway.
As above, I'd give it a go myself so long as you can tell one end of a spark plug from the other you should be ok.
£50 should cover what you need - including the haynes manual, but not beer for afterwards.

Leave it alone, give it to someone else to fix!
