Thanks for all the replies, the guy building the motor in currently stripping/rebuilding an 80's 3 door touring car motor for a customer (ex andy rouse car) and will be inerested to see what comes of that, but it seems that things have changed since back then (although it was producing big power it was at a massive cost) and so wanted to have a good idea of a current spec motor verses the 80's way. He has someone lined up to do the head work and had provisional dimensions for 25 inlet and 24 exhaust along with std valves to flow 150 cfm per cylinder (can't be sure of the units quoted). The current valves have seen 60k, will they be ok to use or will fresh one be required?. From his experience he recomended longer rods to reduce forces on the walls of the cylinder and reduced load on the crank, and also has some JE pistons from a previous rs500 project for a good price. Any rod recomendations?
