Im not sure what the fuel pump performance is like on the CFi but I know that the MFi system runs quite high fuel pressures and relies heavily on those pressure being maintained in order for it to run. So your best bet is to make sure you have a pump which is up to suppling the correct flow which would mean either fitting the Orion pump which is an external style pump or fitting an appropriate inline performance pump as I suspect your intank pump won't be up to the job.
