as said the plastic gets brittle wit hage and snaps, you will need to drill another hole in the lamp.
to stop it happening again strtche the spring slightly to make it longer this then reduces the pressure on the plastic and does stop it breaking.
I had one snap this year at the campsite before ford fair just sat there drinking and my sidelight fell out!!

Ah bugger, i was hoping it had just come off somehow. Think ill just get a new side light if i can. Ill take a look in the morning. Nice tip with the spring mate, cheers
