A timesert is fitted in a similer way to a helicoil but insted of being like a spring/coil of thread, its a solid steel threaded insert. Ive fitted them to loads of major load bearing points over the years with no probs and have also fitted one to the sump of my yb, even though there was nothing wrong with the original threads...just alot more reliable. MES do a service where they come out and do the repair on site, well they used to when Mike worked there, not sure now come to think of it.
