whether its a cat c or d bares no relevance to the severity of damage, it is based on the cost of the repair to the value of the car, for instance you may get a brand new range rover thats been rolled and is a mess thats only a cat D, where as for example I bought an 03 plate MGZR the other week that was a cat C and it hadnt even been in an accident, just wanted painting as it had been vandelised, but obviously the insurance decided a full respray would exceed the value of the car.
