I imagine peanut butter works in two ways. Its abrasive enough to get into the 'grain' AND its oily enough to replenish the oil in the plastic, effectively working like a moisturiser.

As for autoglym, I've always found the bumper restorer stuff to be brilliant, and I think the rest of thier stuff is rubbish so I'm no 'fan boy'.
