Had an ST170 as my daily driver up until about 6 weeks ago, I'd probably go with an Impreza tbh. Can't fault the Focus I liked it MUCH more than I thought, just never got on board with 6 long gears on a revvy engine, never pinned you back.

It was reliable too, only had to replace downpipe & cat in just under 9 months. Was an '04 plate.

If you can justify a little hike on running costs Impreza all day IMO.
