I think the most expensive cost is the forged pistons and rods... they will be needed for the power this guy wants to run.... at around 800 quid they are the highest single purchase.
I wouldnt skimp on anything else to lower the compression.... spend the money and reep the rewards a reliable, strong engine will give you!
Shop around for the pistons and rods... i know you can mate c20let pistons for the vauxhalls to the ford rods but your rods need machining to accept the vaux's gudgeon pins.
i dont think you can use vaux's rods as the crank is of a diff diameter... in fact im sure you cant so you could go for some forged ford rods and forged c20let pistons. This should give you a compression ratio of about 8 to 1 which is lovely.
If you are wanting a lower compression then go with lower comp c20let pistons... i think the lowest you can get the zetec bottom end down to is 7.4 to 1 with vaux's pistons.. what vaux say about compression is diff when put in the fords.
