There is no way the parts prices can look ok to anyone with a bit of sense,i have no problem with the labour prices but they are taking the piss with the oil and parts prices. £8 a litre for average semi synthetic from a 45 gallon drum??? £55 for pads??? £75 to change oil???

You very right there - sounds like some miscomunication is partly the problem.
You can't compare the prices you find on Ebay with what a garage charge - they need to sell decent parts and not the usual crap on ebay.
Pads from a BMW dealer will cost you much more than £55 - it all depends on the quality imo.
