As you got it early then the block should be fine.

Also the head if it didnt get too hot. But id recomend getting it lightly skimmed and pressure tested. About £60-80.

I used a multi layer group A on my cossie. Was a 'Cometic' gasket

As far as im aware you should really use the standard, ford stretch bolts, new ones of course.

Ive heard horror stories of people using 'uprated' bolts on a standard enging the cracking the block.

Dont know when it was last done, but while your at it you may as well replace the timing belt as well.

So really belt, tensioners, bolts, gasket and a skim sould cost you no more than £400.

its a relativly straight ford job, just make sure everything is clean and make sure to lable everything, especially the cams and followers in the head if ur removing them for a skim/test.
