The legal position would be;

You CAN produce a valid M.O.T cert if required,
As it would appear a fail does not cancel the existing Pass cert, at the moment.

However you cannot produce a vehicle that will pass an M.O.T .

If stopped by Plod or Vosa you would fail an inspection and would be guilty of an offence under Construction and Use.
