before bothering with the swap ask the following questions... how much power do you want out the car? what do you use the car the for (daily driver? weekend thrash \ second car ?) are you just going to EFI cos some bloke down the pub said it was better?
Just think about all these things and make "an informed decision" efi and MFI both have their advantages and weaknesses!
MFI
downers.
Metering heads can be fragile and expensive to replace
loose one sensor they run like a bucket!
injectors leak and they fire on 2-3 when starting up! (not always!)
uppers
Can get 200bhp easy with big boost, big intercooler, exhaust, and 98 petrol.
fairly simple to fix faults
ability to "home tune" with simple tools (3mm allen key, 10mm spanner gas tester and timing light, although I dont recomend this!!)
efi
downers
need to change injectors for each stage of tune (injectors are different to other efi systems ie cossie)
mate of mine was prone to melting pistons on efi
uppers
TURBO CHATTER
starts up better than mfi
some say smoother in operation
slightly better mpg
