I can only asume you were the chap with the 206 dash?
I wouldn't normally comment about a customer on a public forum but seeing as you have no problem in making comments about my company i feel i need to reply.
There were a number of issues with your order.
Issue 1
When we spoke the first time you asked if I could coat your door cards. I said yes, as long as they were not made from/trimmed in a porous material like fabric. You assured me they were plastic.
When the door cards arrived they were indeed plastic but according to your note it was not the plastic sections you wanted coating. It stated it was the material trimmed inlays that you wanted coating. The glove box lid was also trimmed in material.
I had made it very clear the first time we spoke that this was not possible. I rang you again immediately to explain again what porous meant and why I had made it clear to you previously that I could not coat material on the door cards or the glove box.
From previous knowledge I knew there would most likely be fibre board under the material on the door cards so offered to remove the material inlays, (drilling out lots of plastic rivets) prep the glue covered rough fibre board into a smooth surface more suitable for flocking (lots of sanding, several coats of filler primer) and then bond the door cards all back together after flocking.
I told you I couldn’t do the glove box as it had padding under the material.
I told you this would add £50 to the bill.
You said you would think about it and then shortly rang back saying a friend had recommended the same way forward and you would like to go ahead.
Issue 2
I offer free return carriage on all my dashes.
When your dash arrived the DHL man was having trouble lifting it. He explained it had been put in the back of his van on a pallet. The parcel was huge and weighed a ton.
On un wrapping the dash I discovered that you had included most of the car with it. There were big bits of structural metal work that should have stayed on the car, half the wiring loom and would you believe it, even the steering column!
Due to this the dash wouldn’t fit inside my enclosed heated drying racks which in turn meant it had to be air dried. (3 days rather than 24hrs).
When all the bits were coated they were packed up into three parcels. Door cards, hand brake surround and lots of other parts and finally the dash it’s self.
The first two parcels were sent out by my courier with no problem and you received them. I received a call from my couriers saying that the third parcel was way over their max parcel weight (I send a lot of dashes, never happened before) and that they wanted an extortionate amount of money to send it.
I picked the dash parcel back up and set about finding a more reasonable carrier for a parcel of this weight/size. I came across Parcel 2 Go and booked a pickup. They didn’t arrive. At this point (one week after receipt of dash) you rang checking on whereabouts of the dash I guess as you received the other parts without the dash.
I informed you about the problem with the courier / parcel weight and said I had booked another pickup for that day.
Again they did not arrive to pick up. I phoned you the very next morning to say I was going to drop at original courier, pay the extortionate amount and apologised for the delay. You put the phone down on me.
A week later you rang and asked why I hadn’t coated the glove box. I went over our old conversation about porous materials again and you put the phone down on me again.
In my opinion I did my best to try and honour my free return carriage on something that was totally unreasonable and I worked around the problems that you had sent me. You were rude, ill mannered and ignorant to everything I explained to you clearly from day one. I should have just sent the whole lot back from the start, un-coated and at the very expensive rate with an invoice for the carriage rather than try to help.
