The symptoms do not really manifest themselves in an obvious way as they get cleared fairly quickly.

The powerup ram initialisation is basically a routine that assigns default values to certain variables when you first turn the key on. These variables are things like ACT, ECT, desired A/F ratio, battery voltage, open loop flag, fuel pump flag, underspeed flag, cranking flag, total spark advance, map, idle fuel modulator, WOT max aircharge and many others. The reason for the routine is that these values will contain junk when the ram is first powered up and until the eec has run a little while they will not get set to their correct values.
