Yes it'll be ok to drive it without the sensor, it may cut out until the car warms up though when started from cold. If it's not the valve it'll be a temperature sensor telling the ECU that the engine is cold and thus telling the ISCV that it needs to operate, when infact it doesn't, I think thats basically how it works....
