Many insurers won't but some will. It will (in my experience) be a lot more expensive, but there may well be an exception that we didn't find. A few years ago the Mother-in-law emigrated and left us her car, we tried to get cover for it, but in the end the only way to do it was put the car in our name as the only prices we could get were stupidly high.
