as for the "deserving" of the injuries caused, if you get into a car with someone who's nicked that motor you are just as guilty as the person driving
same as if you accept a lift from someone who's necked a few pints down the pub and offers you a lift home
you should get the same punishment as you are not stood there on the side of the road saying "you;re pissed, stop acting like a twat, i'll split the cab fare with you" or "this motors been pinched, i'd rather sit indoors awtching eastenders"

you don't have to grass them up, but, at the same time, if you did, perhaps you wouldn't be wondering about the safety of your freinds and family who they might have hit on their merry way?
