Guess they couldn't take the chance mate, as they only started smoking at the end of the warm up lap when he was sat on the grid, i doubt Mclaren wanted to pull him from the field and have him start last when the problem may have gone away AND he MAY have been able to help Lewis, in the end it didn't matter as mismatched tyres gave him bad understeer in the first stint, so IMO it was nothing ventured nothing gained on this occasion
