*Update*
Finally got around to whipping the head off the motor in the car and my block fears turned out to be unfounded..........
The block is undamaged, an intermittent wiring malady has caused headgasket failure so it`s all good
Gonna put some fresh wire rings in and stick another head on for now so it can stay on the road for the winter until the new one is built
