Default Cooling system issue

It never ends, just when i thought i would be going to get an MOT on Monday after the rebuild, i find another issue!!!

Car now runs as sweet as anything after a long time of not running. Car starts first time, no smoke or anything. Car takes a reasonable time to warm up but not too excessive, when the temp gauge gets to just under the 'O' of NORM, the twin Spal fans cut in and believe me, they certainly cool that rad down!! The temp will then settle back to the 'M' of NORM and all seems well..............

BUT the header tank looks like its on the verge of exploding! and the hoses are quite hard! so tried a few things.

1) Heater in car blows out nice warm air which is good
2) Tried taking the pipe off of the top of the Bailey swirl pot and waited for water to come out the top
3) i then allowed the car to warm up, but held the hose that goes back to the expansion tank in the air, and it took forever for any water to come out the top and when it did, it was at boiling point. So fair enough, put it back onto the expansion tank. The thing i noticed was that the water in the tank was also at boiling point, but the return pipe wasnt connected........ that normal?

Either way, im a little concerned!!
