Sarah, to have a proper fire, you need a lum (chimney) to put the smoke, unless you a smoker that is.
We're in a very old croft and got a stove that is just a huge radiator.
Just stick on the logs and adjust the amount of oxygen getting in to control the heat. We can light it, head out of a few hours and come back in and the fire will still be going and the house warm.
As for your other question, we're getting on ok. We still have moments when seeing other babies. Every day is getting better but both our sensitive sides have increased dramatically! We've even been crying at the X-Factor!!! :coat:
