Hit the A712 through New Galloway to Newton Stewart, then the A714 to Girvan and follow the coast upto Ayr, go and have a brew at AG's place made by his bitch Carlo
From there A713 to Dalmellington, B741 to New Cummock, A76 to Cummock Netherthird, A70 through Muirkirk to Happendon, B7078 down to the A702 and then head for Thornhill and down the A76 to Dumfries.
I stayed over at the Rivendell on Edinburgh Road, proper nice gaff and an awesome breakfast
