unless he's got some sort of degenreative bone deasease lke osteoporosis or something like brittle bones
...they're removing the bone and replacing it with plastic one and fusing his 5,6,7th vertibra...............if they mess it up he could die or be on life support..........he hasn't just got a "bad neck"
