If you have no wire going to the temp sensor then that is your answer as to why your gauge aint working.

Cant understand why anyone would disconnect it though??? except maybe to hide that it is overheating???? I assume you have checked the for signs of a blown head gasget before you bought it??? like mayo in oil cap and on dipstick etc??
