TDEzzy: Nice choice of camera mate, but I will admit to being a Nikon fan and actually not knowing alot about the D40's...lol. Is it the D40 or D40X which struggles to house certain lenses? If your camera is not restricted to only certain lenses, then I'd recommend the lens I have, Sigma 70-300mm APO DGII. It only cost me £165 and that was a good 18 months ago if not more, so the price is probably lower now.
If you have to have Nikon only lenses, then the 70-300mm from Nikon is well worth the money. If you money is no object you should be looking at some 200/400mm VR lenses from Nikon
Happy days mines just the D40 so I can pick n choose lenses
Just been doing a bit of shopping around and the best price I can find for the Sigma lense is £120, had best get saving lol.
