I bought a tablet to do something similar, but my standard of drawing hasn't improved in over 25 years. Here's my last attempt at tracing a photo of my car, nowhere near the same league I'm afraid.
I also have a tablet mate, but hate it! It takes so long to get used to, so I just persevered with the mouse. Got a pretty steady hand, and it's getting easier all the time!
