If you look after them, change bits that are common to go, generally service it well and keep ontop of things (not to mention buy a decent one to start with) get it set up properly! then their is no reason you cant use it as an every day car!

mine lay up for 3 years, I virtually serviced it, jumped in and abused it for a year and it never missed a beat!
