Hi,

Me and a mate have been doing a headgasket change on my s2 erst this week, we managed to get it all back together last night but it wouldn't start It just cranks over and thats it, the fuel pump primes ok and theres a spark so in theory it should start !

My mate said that when he did someone elses head gasket he had to tow start them because exactly the same thing happened Is it normal for this to happen, the battery and head etc have been off the car for 5 days and we also cleaned all the combustion chambers and grinded the valves so this will help 'seal' the compression wont it ? Could the starter motor be too weak to start the new 'freshened' up engine........it was cranking very slowly !

Any help much appreciated as I have to get it started tonight
