Hi folks. The car would first of all be tested as a post 92 car, so a BET test will be done to check the CAT. obviously this would fail, so the programme will go on to ask for more detailed info of the engine code. there will not be a code for the RST engine for a 96 model escort.
From here, the tester will then carry out the test to default limits.
According to the MOT book pre 95 cars qualify for a non-cat test.
Unfortunately cars registered later than this need to pass specified limits.
Idle: co=0.5% HC= no requirement. Fast idle: co=0.3% HC=200ppm Lambda=1+/- 0.03.
These are very tight limits. But I could be wrong.
