No, thats done over the dish too.
The dish can receive data, updates etc.
The phone line is used if you want to order a box office movie, vote on some crappy TV show (red button) or other outgoing services.
As above, the signal for the movies are sent through the dish.
The only time the phone line comes into play with Box Office is if you have it set up to use your handset to book them instead of calling up.
