right, im getting fed up of the reliability of my series 2 (or should i say lack of reliability) and i fancy a change, a 325i coupe seems to fit the bill nicely. anybody know what to look out for on these cars. ive heard something about a VANOS unit, do 325s have these and nikasil problems, again not sure if there a problem with 2.5s, any info would be appreciated.

If you mean the cars badged as 325 then they have the M50 iron block and aren't affected by high sulphur fuel. The later 325s had single Vanos.
The later 323i was actually a 2.5 as well but uses the M52 block which can be affected by the Nikasil problems
