I am not confident of the setting of my head bolts so have decided to replace them. I will use the mentioned method of tightening when i make my next attempt.
I will not be replacing the gasket though, i will replace each bolt in sequence.

I presume when replacing each bolt, i take that bolt through all 4 stages of tightening, then i move to the next one....?
