Taking it steady does more harm than good if you taking it REALLY steady, youl just glaze the bores.
I remember a certain high power cossie engine that was "run in" for 1000miles really really steady and was burning a fair bit of oil. It happened to go down Bluesprint the same day i was picking up my car from there.
Joe took a plug out n got the microscope thing to look at the bore, saw it was all glazed and goes il fix that, and drives off in the car.
For next 10mins all you hear is the sound of a cossie beaing ragged to fuck around the countryside and a quite worried looking owner.
Car comes back, bores deglazed, no more smoke, car spot on
Ive always ran the cars in for 1000miles, upto 3k for a few hundred but lots of WOT, and then every 1000miles after go up a 1000rpm until 1000miles when im fully caning the car (not full boost tho till 1000miles).
By looks of this i was still taking it too easy!
