Default Gasket between exhaust manifold and turbo ? and boost problem.

Hi Everyone,

I am just wondering if cossie's use a gasket between the turbo and the exhaust manifold ?

I have a 2wd turbo fitted to to 4x4 manifold and I am running a steel gasket inbetween the two, although I was talking to a fella who was telling me that i don't need to be running a gasket ?

I noticed some smoke coming from the turbo when my car was idling last night, I couldnt determine whether it was coming from inbetween the manifold and the turbo, the turbo core etc.. could even be the oil feed leaking slightly i suppose.. I will check this out properly in the light today.

If is was leaking from inbetween the turbo and manifold would I hear a leak ? and could this cause the boost to bleed back significantly ? The turbo is a 2wd turbo with a larger t4 compressor wheel and housing and peak boost is at around 20 psi at the moment and it is bleeding back to 14 or probably less. If it had a boost leak in the intercooler or plumbing would it build the boost in the first place ?

I have a - 31 actuator, turbo smart bleed valve, 3inch exhaust. I might try taking off the air filter to see if there is a restriction there ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Damion.
