or use a dremmel type instrument to cut them

the tape will stop the ends from poking out and yes, when they stick you, it will hurt like fuck

but they also keep the ends tidy so that you can mark where you want to cut and keep everything together

i found that the angle grinder method is better than the hand saw method but i have also used a bit of pipe inside to stop the hose from deforing when you are half way through teh cut
