Sounds like input shaft bearing to me also mate. Wouldnt say release bearing as that would be noisy when you press the clutch as thats when it engages. I had one T5 input shaft that wore the end away that goes into the spigot bearing...use to make a right racket, mangaged to swap it over for a decent one with out having to completly strip the box.
