Apologies for the belated reply, which was due to my working on several I.T. projects that have meant I had to "go dark" from a forum perspective.

Looking at your specific query, Shings (Jake) has pretty much covered it and I would echo what he says in relation to fitting new or getting the original checked along with a certificate reissue.

Either route suggested would be the way to go in relation to the security.

Most Insurers that request security with need this at the time of a theft claim and unless this is forthcoming they could withhold payment - we're just a bit more vocal when it comes to making sure our clients meet policy criteria, as we wish to avoid complications at claim time when you need it the least.
