Insure the car for £12 for the day/24 hour period or multiples thereof, which would cover you for a test drive fully comp and also cover you to drive the car home should you need to.

From there you can then insure the car as you please.

You do not need to be registered keeper of the car.

The limitation is age. 21+ only. Also if you know the reg it will tell you there and then if they'll insure it.
