The best deal you can get is to buy the model with Windows read the license for WindowsXP and it states if you decline the license you can get a refund if you decline it (do this) demand a refund for Windows as you paid retail for the laptop you are entitled to a refund for a retail purchase price for Windows and then install either the Xandros Linux the eeepc comes with or another distribution saves you about 90 quid
Don't mistake them for desktop replacements as a portable system for the occasional email and letter along with surfing they are cracking.. they are simply what laptops should have been in the first place imho... small, low powered, light and most importantly truly portable.
The difference is that if you see someone sitting with a laptop in a bar or cafe its usually taking up the table, accompanied with a massive special bag to carry it in.. while the person using the eeepc you generally would not notice due to its size
