How do you know it's got an Escort RS head?

As long as the head was machined around the inlet ports where the EFI injectors go it should be perfectly OK.

Are you sure the MAP sensor is plumbed in correctly? The vacuum hose should go straight into the inlet manifold. It should have any T pieces for boost gauages or dump valves. Is the plug fully pushed in?
