If you are using 2wd pistons then it is common. Will do it from a cold start and gradually reduce to no noise when warm. Sometimes the odd slap is heard when warm. The 4x4 pistons use an offset gudgeon pin which stops the slap. Cosworth Racing pistons also slap when cold i have been told. not sure if its true or not.
